Moscú, Rusia (27 agosto 2009).- El poeta y escritor Serguei Mijalkov, redactor del himno soviético bajo Stalin y luego del himno de la Rusia independiente, murió el jueves a la edad de 96 años, declaró a la agencia Interfax uno de sus colaboradores, Denis Baglai.
Admirador de Stalin en la época, luego de Vladimir Putin, ex presidente ruso ahora convertido en Primer ministro, y del actual jefe de Estado, Dmitri Medvedev, Serguei Mijalkov también fue autor de libros para niños.
Los dos dirigentes rusos expresaron de inmediato su tristeza tras la muerte de este "monumento de la cultura rusa", a través de sus portavoces, citados por las agencias rusas.
El Himno de la Federación Rusa es el himno nacional de Rusia. Fue compuesto por Alexánder Alexandrov y escrito por Serguéi Mijalkov (quien escribió también el himno soviético), y se lo estableció en 2000 con aprobación del presidente Vladimir Putin, reemplazando el antiguo himno, La Canción Patriótica. Este himno es una reintroducción de aquél introducido por Stalin en la entonces Unión Soviética, por ello ocasionó controversia su readopción. La letra habla de Rusia, el gran espacio de la misma, el amor y lealtad hacia la Patria y el prometedor futuro de la nación, reemplazando a la letra de la era soviética que hablaba de la unión indestructible de repúblicas libres unidas por la gran Rusia, el Partido de Lenin, comunismo, etc. De acuerdo con la sección 4 de la Ley del Himno Ruso, todos los canales de televisión controlados por el Estado tienen que transmitir el himno nacional dos veces al día, así como también se canta al inicio y al cierre de las sesiones de la duma, actividades oficiales, etc. Consiste de tres estrofas y un coro, aunque generalmente se canta sólo la primera estrofa y el coro.

Acontinuacion algunos de los comentarios en youtube acerca de la pelicula y el tema, personalmente me parecio excelente, algo esta pasando en la sociedad, no solo en la americana, en Mexico estamos viviendo tiempos violentos quiero creer que las cosas pasaran y volveremos a vivir en forma tranquila
This is the best movie i ever saw, gees, I never expect that from this movie, I thought it was just gonna be like a funny movie where they talk bout cars and gangs and... but shit i cried when he get shot at the end, the story of the film is just amazing it discribe so perfectly the reality. Clint did an awesome job, the song is sad but so great. I can't beleive i cried at the end, i was just completly in the movie, 2 hands on my head, Tears who flows on my face, Can't beleive he's dead... woah!
one of the best movies I have ever seen. The song is amazing. Most songs themed on a car sound force and cheesy not this one... I never would have guessed ol' Clint was such a poet. If this is his last film it ranks as one of his best.
exactly. the system is crooked and this is just my opinion but i think Doubt shoul'dve won best picture or at least best actor. but it was a close tie between Doubt and Gran Torino... oh well the awards never go the way i plan them too...

Jamie Cullum nació el 20 de agosto de 1979 en Whiltshire, Essex (Inglaterra). Su madre, Yvonne, es una secretaria de origen anglo-burmese; y su padre John Cullum, trabajaba en finanzas. Su abuelo paterno fue oficial de la armada inglesa, mientras que su abuela paterna fue una judía refugiada de Prusia que cantaba en discos en Berlin; Cullum la ve a ella como su "ícono cultural". Fue criado en Hullavington, Wiltshire pero actualmente reside en North West London. Empezó su carrera musical a los dieciséis años, tocando en bares, clubs y hoteles de su pueblo natal. Años más tarde se trasladó a la Universidad de Reading, para estudiar cine y literatura inglesa. Fue durante esta etapa cuando comenzó a componer y a tocar su propia música para acompañar los cortometrajes que hacía como parte de su curso. Además, Cullum, aprovechaba para dar algunos conciertos con su grupo Jamie Cullum Trio, de los cuales nació un primer disco titulado "Hear it all before", en 1999, del cual solo se hicieron 500 copias; debido a su rareza, copias originales de este disco llegan a ser vendidas hasta £600 en eBay. Gracias al éxito de su primer disco, Jamie Cullum fue invitado a participar del disco de Geoff Gascoyne Songs of the summer. Luego logró sacar un segundo CD, "Pointless Nostalgic", el cual llamó la atención de personalidades de la talla de Michael Parkinson, entre otros.
A pesar de que "Pointless Nostalgic" se editó con un sello de jazz pequeño (Candid), la música de Cullum atrajo la atención de la discográfica Universal Records. Esta firma le ofreció un contrato por un millón de libras para promocionar y grabar sus discos durante los siguientes cinco años, ganándole así la batalla a Sony. Tras muchos años intentando abrirse un hueco en el mundo del jazz, Cullum se encontraba ahora a las puertas del éxito.
En octubre de2003, pocos meses después de firmar el contrato, Cullum lanzó "Twentysomething". De este álbum se vendieron 850.000 copias en sólo 4 meses, consiguiendo dos discos de platino y convirtiéndose en el disco de estudio número 1 editado por un artista de jazz en Inglaterra hasta entonces. Gracias a este trabajo, la nueva figura del jazz británico obtuvo el premio al "Mejor Artista Nuevo" en la BBC National Radio 3 Jazz Awards y fue nominado como "Artista Revelación" en los premios Brit Awards de ese año. Tras el gran éxito mundial, se estaba preparando su cuarto disco que fue lanzado en septiembre de 2005 en Inglaterra y luego en el resto del mundo, bajo el nombre de "Catching Tales". En este último trabajo se pudo ver un cambio en el que se incorporan nuevos sonidos sin dejar su base de jazz. Su primer corte de difusión fue "Get your way", con la colaboración de Dan The Automator. Su segundo corte fue "Mind Trick", canción que fue escrita por el propio Jamie junto con su hermano mayor, Ben Cullum. El último corte de difusión de este disco fue "Photograph", también escrita por Cullum en la víspera de año nuevo de 2005, tras encontrar una caja con viejas fotos que le hicieron recordar lo especial que fue su juventud, a pesar de que en ese momento él no lo había visto así. Jamie Cullum se ha convertido en uno de los principales referentes del jazz vocal actual, hasta el punto de ser considerado, por el público americano, como sucesor de Harry Connick Jr. Su gran habilidad para la música hizo que mediante el jazz, se adentrara en diversos estilos musicales, haciendo variaciones de canciones de artistas de la talla de White Stripes, Kanye West, Pussycat Dolls, Elton John, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Coldplay y muchos más. Su prestigio le ha llevado incluso a adentrarse en el terreno del cine, donde ha sido autor del tema principal de la banda sonora de la película "El diario de Bridgett Jones", Everlasting love; así como también la canción "Grace is Gone", que forma parte de la banda sonora de la película con el mismo título. El último tema para una película es "Gran Torino" por Clint Eastwood and Jamie Cullum para la película del mismo nombre y dirigida por Clint Eastwood, fue nominada como mejor canción original en los "Golden Globe Awards".

The lyrics of this existentialist song are written from the point of view of a person who is disillusioned with events in life that are supposed unique experiences. The singer tells the story of when she saw her family's house on fire when she was a little girl, when she saw the circus and when she fell in love for the first time. After each story, she expresses her disappointment in each experience. She suggests that we "break out the booze and have a ball — if that's all — there is", instead of worrying about life. She also explains that she'll never kill herself either because she knows that death will be a disappointment as well.
Inspiration
The song was inspired by the story "Disillusionment" by Thomas Mann, written in 1896. The narrator in Mann's story tells the same stories of when he was a child.
One difference between the story and the song is that the narrator in Mann's story finally has a sensation to feel free when he sees the sea for the first time and laments for a sea without a horizon. Most of the lyrics of the chorus are actually spoken in the story.
